Queen Elizabeth II Promenade
The entrance to the promenade has picnic tables and lots of grassy area, benches covered with trees so there is shade when needed. I am liking this area more and more as I have been sitting at a bench relaxing and playing games with my cell here. Night time mostly and there are people coming and going frequently. I see people I know too and i never realized how popular this area is til this year. I like the walkway and it is always full of life with families. It is a friendly place as people say hello or small chat, a parent with a child having a good outing, someone walking their dog, bikes, i use my mobility scooter here sometimes. Seeing how close Newcastle Island is and the water along the shore always looks inviting to me. Everyone going about their day or like me taking the side route or the long way home... beautiful relaxing energy.

While I may not like the politics of Nanaimo, the seawall and other aspects of the waterfront in partnership with the harbor commission makes for the perfect place to spend time with your family, loved ones, or simply walking a dog. There are plenty of things to do in this area from shopping to a children's play area, a band shelter and plenty of space to shed the day's stresses.

A nice spot for a walk with very few people on it. Especially pleasant after dinner time.

Gorgeous pace to go for a stroll & people watch. There's free 3-hour parking, wheelchair friendly & a public washroom. Just a few steps away is access to the Newcastle Island Ferry boat (walk-om)

Great view, nice bench to take some pics. It needs a little bit of upkeep and lately there's been a couple that took over the bench at the end of the walk several nights now during the sunset time. Sit, Enjoy and let others enjoy!

Nice shared use walkway, wheels on one side and everything else on the other side. Resting benches dot the walkway and great views of Nanaimo harbour, Newcastle Island, and Protection Island

March 30/220. Social distancing covid19.Public parking in the lot by the funeral home. Steps to the walkway are at the south end of the lot. A great spot to park and just watch over the Nanaimo Harbour.Along with Elizabeth 11, Promenade is one of the nicest walks for scenery in Nanaimo. Walk from MaffeoSutten Park downtown to past the old shipyards. Park benches along the way to rest those bones At the yacht club walk out on the short finger and enjoy the harbour planes land and take off on the water. Along the walkway, you looking at the Newcastle channel.Coming back along on New castle Ave. Be reminded it’s a walk on the road.We need to remember with a big shout out to our health care workers. We heard this strange music with intoxication rhythm. I'm guessing our local health cares workers having a music festThank you for what you do.Have fun & stay healthy.

Very nice walk along the sea wall. A small park with a sandy beach to swim or put a kayak / paddledoard in the water is right next to the marina. You can follow this all the way to Maffeo Sutton Park and carry on onto the boardwalk right to downtown.
